The KNPB documentary about the history, value and role of the Nevada Museum of Art, and the work that goes into making it one of the region’s creative and cultural icons.
This installment of the THE WORK OF ART series takes a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into creating an exhibit at the Nevada Museum of Art and its efforts to shape the future of art in the Silver State.
The documentary looks at how the NMA's literal "work of art" — including the fascinating creative process of transforming one of the Museum's gallery rooms from an empty, newly-painted gallery to a finished art installation. KNPB viewers will follow the complete installation process from load-in to unpacking, placement, lighting and mood, signage, determination of audience flow, etc. — and exhibit’s opening night.
From First Thursdays to guided tours and a schedule of exhibits, the NMA regularly invites Nevadans into their galleries and social gathering spaces. THE WORK OF ART follows several events that represent the Museum's philosophy of welcome and hospitality.
From its earliest days to the NMA’s physical design, the Museum has demonstrated a keen sense of its relationship to the environment. The documentary also looks at the Museum's development of its space and expansion with its skyroom.
