JOB SUMMARY & EXPECTATIONS:

The Education Coordinator relies on good judgment and time management to keep the Education Department organized and responsive to Curiosity Classroom facilitators’ needs.  Strong data management and daily monitoring of the Curiosity Classroom workshop reservation tool (Monday.com) is necessary to remain one week ahead packing and fulfilling facilitators’ requests. The Education Coordinator will immediately process the materials returned by facilitators in order to get them properly organized and ready to go out when needed.  The Education Coordinator will become familiar with the school year calendars of each of the school districts that PBS Reno works with and will share this information and maintain open communication about all scheduling with the entire Education Team. 

The Education Coordinator is in charge of maintaining facilitator instructional bags and also works under the guidance of the Education Manager on Curiosity Classroom workshop student materials. The Education Coordinator may be called on to help process or put together student materials in addition to PBS Reno intern and volunteer help.  Working together with the Education Director and Manager, the Education Coordinator will help with the organization and delivery of materials to our storage units, schools and other errands as needed. 

The Education Coordinator is a key member of the Education team and helps with community events representing PBS Reno.  They continuously work to increase awareness of the Education department and to expand its services by putting forth a positive perspective and passion for PBS and PBS Reno which includes: PBS Reno Writers Contest, Reading Buddies programs, PreK-4th grade Curiosity Classroom, Family Engagement, STEM Works digital shorts, PBS KIDS, and PBS Learning Media.
 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Organizes/replenishes materials and maintains an orderly Education office space
  • Assists with communications and data management and scheduling
  • Assists with interns, volunteers and workshop kit management
  • Travel within PBS Reno viewing area to current Education outreach locations and to future locations for Curiosity Classroom expansion.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25-50 lbs. on a regular basis

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A High School diploma is required.  College credit and/or degree is preferred (an equivalent amount of training, education and experience will be considered)
  • Passion for public media
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Calendar/Docs
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Positive communication skills
  • Strong time management skills
  • Proficiency with Monday.com (or ability to learn fast!)
