PBS Reno Receives Seven 2022 International Communicator Awards


RENO, NV (May 20, 2022) — PBS Reno is thrilled to announce its production team received seven Communicator Awards for content the station produced in 2021. The winning local productions include Wild Nevada Memories, ARTEFFECTS, Classical Tahoe, STEM Works, and a promotional announcement highlighting the station’s 38+ year history.

The awards are:

Wild Nevada Memories Episode #109

Wild Nevada Memories was produced utilizing content from earlier Wild Nevada episodes, and coupling segments with current perspectives and additional commentary from the show’s hosts. The production fit the demand for new content during a time when travel and in-person productions were limited due to the pandemic.

2022 Communicator Award of Distinction – Film/Video – Documentary

ARTEFFECTS – Heartbeat to Heart Beat, Eye to Eye, From Reno with Love

ARTEFFECTS is currently in its 7th season, having launched in 2016 on PBS Reno. More than 110 segments featuring local artists and arts organizations have been picked up for national distribution, providing numerous regions with positive exposure to northern and central Nevada.

Classical Tahoe Episode #101

The PBS Reno series Classical Tahoe features the Classical Tahoe summertime concerts, which bring together dozens of musicians to perform classical music in the Lake Tahoe area.

STEM Works is PBS Reno’s newest production, which explores careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math, and visits businesses throughout the Reno-Sparks area to give its audience a closer look at STEM-related careers.

PBS Reno – 38 Years Sizzle

PBS Reno produced a promotional video featuring the people and moments that make up the station’s history since its September 29, 1983 inception.

This is the first time PBS Reno earned this many awards at once.

“We always feel that the PBS Reno Content & Marketing team does fine work, but it’s especially gratifying to have that feeling confirmed by objective professionals,” said Dave Santina, PBS Reno Director of Local Content. “These Communicator Awards will be a point of pride at the station and a motivator for us to keep up the good work.”

PBS Reno has earned 93 awards since its inception in 1983. Sixty-three of those awards have been earned since 2009.
