PBS Reno Nancy Maldonado Welcomed by

Two Education Groups in Washoe County School District

Nancy Maldonado: PBS Reno Vice President of Education

RENO, NV (MAR 8, 2023)PBS Reno Vice President of Education Nancy Maldonado has joined the Washoe K-12 Education Foundation and the Alignment Team for WCSD (Washoe County School District) Strategic Planning.

“PBS Reno and its team members provide leadership in many sectors of our industry and community, so it is no surprise that Nancy Maldonado has been selected for these two important positions,” said Kurt Mische, PBS Reno President and CEO. “We are proud of the knowledge and guidance she provides for the benefit of everyone who lives and works in our great community.”

The Washoe K-12 Education Foundation raises and leverages private and public resources to directly support essential Washoe County School District initiatives, which otherwise would not be fully realized. Since 2011, more than $4 million has been raised in grants and pledges.

The Alignment Team for WCSD is engaged in a comprehensive strategic planning process that aims to align all stakeholders with a shared vision, common goals, and a unified direction for the district’s educational efforts.

“It is a great honor to be invited to join both the Washoe K-12 Education Foundation Board and the WCSD Alignment Team,” said Maldonado. “The Washoe K-12 Education Foundation Board provides me with a wonderful way to continue my personal mission of helping northern Nevada students enjoy learning and success in our local public schools through my participation on the board. I’m also excited to share my experiences, ideas and insights to the WCSD Alignment Team as it supports the development of the WCSD Strategic Plan.”

“We are thrilled to welcome Nancy Maldonado to the Washoe K-12 Education Foundation and the Alignment Team for WCSD Strategic Planning,” said Dr. Troy Parks, Chief Academic Officer for Washoe County School District. “Over many years, her commitment to education and advocacy for all children in Washoe County is unparalleled. As a former teacher and principal she truly understands the needs of our students and their families, and partnered with WCSD’s Parent University to share resources for families to support learning at home. We are grateful for her participation and input as we address critical issues in partnership with our community.”

Maldonado joined PBS Reno in 2017 after a 25-year career with the Washoe County School District, a tenure which includes serving as principal of Anderson Elementary School, Double Diamond Elementary School, and Jerry Whitehead Elementary School.

Under Maldonado’s leadership, PBS Reno Education Services has grown exponentially. Currently, PBS Reno Education Services and its team of 40+ accredited part-time facilitators deliver more than 3,740 Curiosity Classroom Workshops annually to classrooms in Washoe County, Carson City, Douglas County, Lyon County, Humboldt County, Elko County, and White Pine County.
