PBS Reno Camp Curiosity Launches Summer Contests

RENO, NV (May. 14, 2021) – Local families are invited to participate in PBS Reno’s Camp Curiosity Summer Contests for a chance to win amazing prizes and Entertain Your Curiosity through a creative submission process!

“I am so excited about the newest features of PBS Reno Camp Curiosity,” said Nancy Maldonado, PBS Reno Vice President of Education. “We want to provide resources that will make learning fun for the whole family all summer long. In addition to the Summer Contests, PBS Reno Camp Curiosity will feature fun, educational and interactive activities around weekly themes like Space, Animals, and Measuring.”

The PBS Reno Camp Curiosity Summer Contests begin Monday, May 17, 2021 and conclude Friday, July 23, 2021. There will be a new contest featuring a different theme and prize every two weeks, for a total of five exciting prizes to be won! The theme for the first PBS Reno Camp Curiosity Summer Contest is Get Moving. Children are invited to show off what moving means to them, whether it be through dance, exercise, or a sport. The winner of the Get Moving Contest will receive a free Alumni Family Summer Camp package for a family of five at Camp Fleischmann from Boy Scouts of America: Nevada Area Council. The contest begins Monday, May 17 and the deadline to submit is Friday, May 28 at 5pm. For more information, click here.

The theme for the second PBS Reno Camp Curiosity Summer Contest is Family Traditions. Children are invited to share a family tradition, whether it be a special trip, a recipe, pizza and movie night, etc. The winner of the Family Traditions Contest will receive a free Alumni Family Summer Camp package for a family of five at Camp Fleischmann from Boy Scouts of America: Nevada Area Council. The contest begins Monday, May 31 and the deadline to submit is Friday, June 11 at 5pm. For more information, click here.

To enter a PBS Reno Camp Curiosity Contest, children can submit a video, drawing, painting, a story, or other creation to campcuriosity@pbsreno.org. The important thing to remember with submissions, is to be creative!

In addition to the Summer Contests, PBS Reno Camp Curiosity will offer digital content directly tied to lessons crafted by teachers to ensure children continue to learn during the summer months. Weekly themes include Space, Animals, Measuring, Get Moving and more. For more information, click here.
