PBS Reno Partners with Food Bank of Northern Nevada For Distribution of Summer Learning Materials
RENO, NV (Jul. 27, 2021) – Learning doesn’t take a break during summertime, which is why PBS Reno is thrilled to partner with Food Bank of Northern Nevada to distribute information for families about a variety of ways to keep children engaged in education.
PBS Reno’s Education Department participated in 43 weekly distribution sites in north/central/downtown/south Reno, Sparks, and Sun Valley throughout June and July. While Food Bank of Northern Nevada volunteers and staff distributed hundreds of meals and snacks to children, PBS Reno staff handed out nearly 2,000 Summer Activity Books. The books feature scavenger hunts, a summer reading challenge, creative writing, Camp Curiosity Summer Contests, and other activities designed to keep children active and their minds engaged before the new school year.
PBS Reno Summer Activity Books have also been distributed to Silver Lake Elementary School, Poulakidas Elementary School, Magic Treehouse Preschool, and Carson City Parks and Recreation.
“At PBS Reno, our goal is to connect kids of all ages to quality, engaging learning activities,” said Nancy Maldonado, PBS Reno Vice President of Education. “PBS Reno is the number-one resource for easily accessible, low-cost, fun activities for the whole family. We are thrilled to be distributing summer materials along with Food Bank of Northern Nevada, and this is the third year of collaboration in the Reno-Sparks region. We appreciate the opportunity to work with organizations to respond to the needs of our community.”
