Episode 505 – Dark Sky Territory

Launch from Gerlach on the Black Rock Desert, art at Planet X, surprise vehicle trouble, climbing Massacre Rim, experiencing the dark skies in person and astrophotography.

 

Episode 506 – Goldfield to Tonopah

In Goldfield, the historic firehouse, the mid-restoration high school, and the International Car Forest of the Last Church. In Tonopah, a haunted tour at the Mizpah Hotel and a blacksmithing lesson.

 

Episode 507 – Red Rock Canyon and Old Spanish Trail

At Red Rock Canyon, the Calico Tanks Trail leads to a spectacular view, plus Willow Springs pictographs. On the second day of the trip, it's south along The Old Spanish Trail and past historic locations.

 

Episode 508 – Desert National Wildlife Refuge

The Refuge has seven life zones, including an area known as the outback, featuring fossils, a yucca forest and transition from desert to pine-covered mountains. Day two, features interpretive trails with birding, an ancient grinding stone and a special aquarium exhibit.

 

Episode 509 – Carson City

The Nevada State Capitol Building is a destination of it's own, including the brand-new Battle Born Room. Then enjoy a trip into Washoe Valley and a visit to Bowers Mansion. A second day in the area includes King’s Canyon with a beautiful waterfall and the new Stewart Indian School Museum.

 

Episode 510 – Lake Mead National Recreation Area

Lake Mead National Recreation Area offers much, like Rogers Spring and the Bowl of Fire, which is a short hike away from the road and provides colorful views of a rocky landscape. This episode includes some bonus content.

 

Episode 511 – Tahoe Winter Fun

A snowshoe excursion from Carson Pass to Winnemucca Lake, then a soak in Grover Hot Springs. A second day of fun has cross country skiing at Tahoe XC and a new experience at Lake Tahoe Epic Curling in Stateline.
