PBS Reno President and CEO Recognized with
Vistage 2023 Leadership Award

PBS Reno President and CEO Kurt Mische

RENO, NV (December 13, 2023) — PBS Reno President and CEO Kurt Mische has been named the recipient of a 2023 Leadership Award by Vistage, the world’s largest CEO coaching and peer advisory organization for small and midsize businesses. The Leadership Award celebrates a member’s enduring excellence in leadership, recognizing the impact they’ve had on their business, Vistage group, and community. Leadership Award winners have implemented significant changes in their businesses that lay the groundwork for a strong future.

“Being a Vistage member has allowed me to sharpen my skills as a leader,” said Mische. “We have other team members in Vistage groups, too, and we see the benefits of that, all of which makes us more effective and our team that much more productive. I am very honored and humbled to be recognized in this way.”

Mische joined PBS Reno, the PBS affiliate serving the communities of northern and central Nevada and northeastern California, in September 2009 and leads a staff of 41. He is the second-longest serving CEO in PBS Reno’s 40-year history. Mische’s career spans 49 years in the broadcasting industry. A 1978 graduate of Southern Illinois University’s Department of Radio-TV, he has held sales and management positions at broadcast stations around the country, including perennial market leader Sunny 106.5fm in Las Vegas, and 11 years at Vegas PBS and PBS SoCal, the public television station in Orange County, California. Mische is a member of the Downtown Reno Rotary Club, NNEC, and serves on the board of trustees for Reno+Sparks Chamber of Commerce, the Vice-Chair of California Public Television, and a member of the board of directors for the Nevada Broadcasters Association.

“What I have enjoyed most about my relationship with Kurt over the last seven years, is watching him learn with and from other CEOs how to become a truly servant leader, which is highly appropriate for the CEO of a public serving PBS member station,” said Chuck Alvey, Chair of Vistage International. “His leadership including the development of his team of leaders has taken PBS Reno to amazing achievements.”
