JOB TITLE: Broadcast Operator
REPORTS TO: Broadcast Operations Supervisor
DEPARTMENT: Technology
SUPERVISORY POSITION: No
SALARY: $19-22 per hour
SHIFT: Primarily early swing shift
JOB SUMMARY & EXPECTATIONS:
Broadcast Operator sets up, controls and monitors television broadcasting equipment to transmit television programs and station breaks (interstitial material) to viewing audience by performing the following duties. The Broadcast Operator position requires being on call, and at certain times, will be required to work during weekends, evenings, and early morning hours. The Broadcast Operator will work with our broadcast partner, Centralcast, to fulfill daily logs of media the HUB (Centralcast) needs from PBS Reno (Spoke) for daily broadcast schedules. This includes QC’ing interstitials and also full-length programs produced by PBS Reno for broadcast. The Broadcast Operator will be available for consultation on operational or procedural problems and may be required to do production work at times.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE REQUIRED (an equivalent amount of training, education and experience will be considered):
- Understanding of TV broadcast systems, workflows, and distribution.
- Knowledge of FCC rules and regulations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft OS; IT & Network skills on broadcast related, IP based equipment and applications.
- Ability to multi-task at extremely high levels.
- Minimum of a High school Diploma – some college or technical school preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational skills and willingness to assist others.
- Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize assignments.
- Must be able to pay strict attention to detail and adhere to Standard Operating Procedures, often under pressure.
- Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work extended hours, as needed i.e., weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- Available for emergency response 24/7, as needed.
- Act as responder for station disaster recovery.
- Have a valid state driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Have the right to work in the United States.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB:
- Must be able to stand, sit, reach, climb, work in close proximity to others, work outdoors in all weather conditions, and work indoors in environmentally controlled conditions.
- Must be able to lift, set up and operate equipment weighing up to 75 pounds, and be able to handle, control or feel objects, tools, or controls.
This position is in-office in Reno, Nevada and does not qualify for relocation assistance.
