JOB TITLE: Social Media Coordinator
REPORTS TO: Director of Marketing
DEPARTMENT: Marketing

SALARY: $45-55k
JOB SUMMARY & EXPECTATIONS:
The Social Media Coordinator works closely with the Manager of Creative Services, Director of Marketing, and the marketing team to plan, create, and manage engaging social media content across multiple platforms. This position is responsible for maintaining a consistent brand voice online, monitoring analytics to inform strategy, and growing PBS Reno’s digital presence. The Social Media Coordinator also supports digital campaigns and content creation, while assisting with marketing initiatives, community outreach, station events, and other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Manage and update PBS Reno’s social media channels (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and emerging platforms), adapting based on trends and needs.
- Develop and execute content calendars that align with programming, events, and strategic priorities.
- Create and publish original content (written posts, graphics, photos, short-form videos, stories/reels) tailored to each platform.
- Adapt supplied marketing materials and toolkits for localized use within our communities.
- Monitor engagement, track performance analytics, and provide regular reports with recommendations for optimization.
- Research and propose new social media trends, formats, and strategies to reach and grow audiences.
- Document PBS Reno events and productions through photography, short-form video, and live social coverage.
- Maintain good communications and relationships with social media audiences.
- Analyze and adjust project schedules to optimize audience reach.
- Create content following SEO and PPC best practices.
- Represent PBS Reno at community and station events; provide on-site social media coverage as needed.
- Support marketing campaigns by proofreading materials, contributing ideas, and ensuring brand consistency across platforms.
- Willingness to train on video and digital equipment and to assist as part of the Content & Marketing Department’s production crews.
KEY WORK SKILLS:
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills tailored to digital platforms.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Knowledge of current and emerging social media trends, tools, and best practices.
- Basic graphic design and video editing skills; understanding of layout and design.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities; motivated self-starter.
- Ability to handle stress effectively in a fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize assignments.
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and consistency in all communications.
- Collaborative team player with initiative and creativity.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE REQUIRED (an equivalent amount of training, education and experience will be considered):
- Bachelor’s degree in related areas or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency with social media platforms and scheduling tools (e.g., Meta Business Suite, Hootsuite, or Sprout).
- Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, or Canva)
- Photography and/or videography experience preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB:
- Ability to sit for periods of up to 3.5 hours.
- Ability to lift, carry, and push up to 25 lbs. and up to 50 lbs. with the support of another person.
- Ability to bend at the waist and have the use of both hands for phone, computer, and filing.
- Ability to drive a vehicle and possess a valid driver’s license.
