PBS Reno Partners with Reno Public Market
RENO, NV (January 17, 2023) — PBS Reno is thrilled to partner with Reno Public Market (RPM), the new community space that is home to a variety of food, local vendors, art, and more!
Reno Public Market is now open at Plumb Lane and S. Virginia Street in Reno, the site of the former Shoppers Square, which served as a trusted and convenient retail and cultural center for thousands of Reno families for more than 50 years.
To elevate and enrich the importance of community and love for local content, PBS Reno has installed a state-of-the-art podcast studio at Reno Public Market. The studio will be used for upcoming podcasts produced by PBS Reno. The studio will be available to rent by members of the community, with more information available online.
“The Reno Public Market positions our city well for present and future growth,” said Kurt Mische, PBS Reno President and CEO. “PBS Reno is proud to be a part of this dynamic, innovative project that allows us to serve the RPM’s customers and develop new audiences for our present and future growth.”
During Reno Public Market’s Friends and Family Pre-Opening Celebration on Thursday, January 19, PBS Reno will livestream a musical performance from the RPM stage from 6pm to 9pm. The scheduled musicians are Lucky Diamond and the Incontinentals, a local band that features ‘20s and ‘30s hot jazz, big band swing, and Rat Pack tunes. Be sure to visit the PBS Reno website to enjoy the music online!
The Reno Public Market will hold its Grand Opening Celebration on Friday, January 20 through January 22; the public is invited to check out the local vendors, the variety of food and drink, and art the space has to offer, including the presence of your local public television station, PBS Reno.
“Having PBS Reno as our partner at Reno Public Market is a reflection of our commitment to arts, culture and community,” said Nettie Oliverio, Reno Public Market Arts & Culture Director. “PBS Reno's unique programming, such as ARTEFFECTS, Wild Nevada and Classical Tahoe, gives the viewer an intimate peek at our region's treasures. We are thrilled to be able to stream these shows, plus Reno CREATE and PBS KIDS presented by PBS Reno content, to the big screen in our Food Hall as our patrons enjoy cuisines from 18 local food vendors, and share performances and community event programming happening on our stage with PBS Reno viewers. We are very grateful to the PBS Reno team for this wonderful opportunity to create together!”
