RENO, NV (DEC 1, 2025) – PBS Reno will broadcast a new Holiday School Chorus Special on Tuesday, Dec. 2 and Wednesday, Dec. 3, at 7:30 pm on PBS Reno channel 5.1 and Spectrum channel 785, as well as the PBS Reno livestream and PBS Reno YouTube channel. This year marks the second installment of the series, which was warmly welcomed by PBS Reno audiences for the first time in 2024.

This year, Holiday School Chorus Special features the student choir programs from Bishop Manogue High School, McQueen High School, Reed High School, Spanish Springs High School, Damonte Ranch High School, Depoali Middle School, and Billinghurst Middle School.

“We’re very happy to continue our new tradition, sharing the talents of our local students with the entire community,” said Dave Santina, PBS Reno Director of Local Content. “We have more schools participating this year, and it has allowed us to make two programs so we can share all the music and entertainment these schools worked so hard to provide. The holiday season will be a bit more festive because of this special!”

PBS Reno recorded the student performances over five days at the PBS Reno studios. Selections ranged from a capella to live piano accompaniment; other songs included choreography and solo performances. With guidance from their respective choir directors, the students delivered spirited performances that were captured for PBS Reno viewers to enjoy during the holiday season. Funding for this special was provided by several community donors and marks the second time PBS Reno has produced this holiday special.

“We are thrilled to have partnered once again with PBS Reno on the Holiday Choir project, giving students from across our district the unique opportunity to experience the excitement of a professional television recording studio,” said Amy Barthel, Visual & Performing Arts Coordinator for the Washoe County School District. “This year’s broadcast will feature outstanding performances from five high schools and two middle schools, allowing families, friends, and our community to enjoy their incredible talents throughout the holiday season. Now in its second year, the project has grown from four to seven participating schools, offering even more students the chance to shine on screen and celebrate the arts together.”
