PBS Reno to Premiere Season 9 of ARTEFFECTS
The first episode of Season 9 airs Sunday, October 1, 2023 at 6:30pm on PBS Reno 5.1

 

RENO, NV (September 28, 2023)PBS Reno is thrilled to premiere Season 9 of the award-earning series ARTEFFECTS on Sunday, October 1 at 6:30pm. The award-earning series, hosted by Artown Executive Director Beth Macmillan, has featured the work of artists and arts organizations throughout northern and central Nevada and northern California since 2016.

Four new episodes kick off Season 9 of ARTEFFECTS throughout October and they include the following features:

  • The Last Unicorn Ballet, an exclusive production from Sierra Nevada Ballet (airs 10/1)
  • Halloween Compilation featuring four spooky locally-produced segments (airs 10/8)
  • McAvoy Layne, a 35-year Mark Twain impressionist (airs 10/15)
  • Frank Leto, the creator and host of Zomboo’s House of Horror Movies (airs 10/22)
     

“Our team is thrilled to produce this ninth season of ARTEFFECTS,” said Rebecca Cronon, PBS Reno Content Creator and ARTEFFECTS Producer. “We have had the honor of featuring more than 230 local artists and arts organizations. Connecting with each person, uncovering their history and experiences, and learning about their craft is an experience we don’t take for granted. It’s important to elevate these creative individuals who make our region so rich and diverse, and ARTEFFECTS is the perfect vehicle for PBS Reno to celebrate this work in our community.”

ARTEFFECTS has earned 21 Communicator Awards and six Telly Awards throughout its nine-year run, making it PBS Reno’s most award-earning series to date. ARTEFFECTS segments are posted to the PBS Reno YouTube channel each Wednesday, giving viewers the opportunity to watch new content before the full episode broadcast the following Sunday on PBS Reno channel 5.1 at 6:30pm.

With the addition of our YouTube channel and our weekly arts blog Art Views,featuring important voices in our local arts community, PBS Reno is proud to serve as a conduit for these artists and their important contributions to our region’s arts and culture scene.”
