RENO, NV (OCT 17, 2024)PBS Reno is thrilled to debut Season 10 of the award-earning series ARTEFFECTS on Sunday, October 20 at 6:30pm, with a special extended segment featuring Deep Time: Sea Dragons of Nevada, a brand-new exhibit now on display at the Nevada Museum of Art. The segment provides in-depth interviews with Dr. Martin Sander, a paleontologist based in Bonn, Germany; and Ann M. Wolfe, Chief Curator and Associate Director at the Nevada Museum of Art. Both Sander and Wolfe co-curated the exhibit Deep Time and through ARTEFFECTS, viewers will learn how the exhibit came to life and how it celebrates the Ichthyosaur, Nevada’s state fossil.

“We are so honored to have produced ARTEFFECTS for close to a decade,” said Rebecca Cronon, ARTEFFECTS Producer. “We have the privilege of meeting and connecting with incredible artists, and we get to capture their stories for our viewers to enjoy. Each artist we feature receives a new avenue of recognition for their craft by appearing on ARTEFFECTS, and we get to grow our library of featured talent across northern Nevada.”

The second new episode of ARTEFFECTS Season 10 broadcasts on Sunday, October 27 at 6:30pm, and features the art of Rhiannon Wolfe, a Reno-based artist who brings animals and nature to life with a vibrant blend of watercolor and colored pencils, creating a vivid connection to the natural world in each piece.

“One would think after ten seasons with hundreds of episodes we would’ve run out of ideas by now, but really it’s the opposite,” said Guinivere Clark, ARTEFFECTS Producer. “The team of ARTEFFECTS producers has a forever expanding list of artists and artforms across Nevada to feature. A 10th season of any production is a huge accomplishment, especially of a series that consistently produces award-earning segments that are recognized across the country. It’s great to see ARTEFFECTS grow alongside our region’s vibrant arts scene.”

Since ARTEFFECTS first premiered in February 2016, the series has earned 22 Communicator Awards and seven Telly Awards, making it the most award-earning series in PBS Reno’s 41-year history. The series has also resulted in national recognition: 157 ARTEFFECTS segments have been picked up for national distribution, which means dozens of PBS member stations around the country have broadcasted ARTEFFECTS segments in their respective viewing areas, resulting in continued positive representation of northern Nevada and its thriving arts and culture presence.

ARTEFFECTS is hosted by Beth Macmillan, Executive Director of Artown. The series has served as a vehicle for shining a light on local artistry, which is a hallmark echoed by Artown as well.

“Joy! That is the word I use to describe my time with the producers of ARTEFFECTS,” said Macmillan. “The segments that they produce are conducted with such care and professionalism. I am honored to work with everyone on the PBS Reno team. People in the community stop me constantly to praise ARTEFFECTS and all the interesting arts topics that are covered. The show has earned it popularity and entering the 10th season is a true testament to all involved.”

Viewers around the world can enjoy ARTEFFECTS and other content from PBS Reno on the station’s YouTube channel. Viewers are encouraged to subscribe to the channel, which provides early access, behind-the-scenes content, and other videos throughout the week.
