PBS Reno Welcomes Beth Macmillan to Art Views
RENO, NV (OCT 18, 2024) — PBS Reno is thrilled to welcome Beth Macmillan to Art Views, the weekly online publication that aims to inform the community of important arts-related events and artists who make the region’s arts and culture scene uniquely diverse.
Since 2003, Macmillan has served as Executive Director of Artown. Founded in 1996, Artown has grown to become one of the largest arts and culture festivals in the western United States, attracting thousands of attendees to their Spring and Fall Encore Series and their highly anticipated summer festival. Each July, Artown transforms Reno, Nevada, into a bustling hub of artistic activity, offering something for everyone to enjoy. The month-long programming offers over 500 events with a wide range of artistic disciplines, including music, dance, theater, visual arts, literature, and more.
Since 2016, Macmillan has also served as host of ARTEFFECTS, the award-earning series produced by PBS Reno now in its 10th season.
“I am so excited to have Artown's voice join the other extraordinary art views that are already in circulation through this initiative by PBS Reno,” said Macmillan. “I am fortunate to be able to bring together my work on the amazing ARTEFFECTS series, Artown as we enter our 30th Anniversary, and now on Art Views.”
Art Views launched in April 2022 with its four original columnists: Rosine Bena, the Founder and Artistic Director of Sierra Nevada Ballet; Scott Faulkner, the Principal Double Bassist of the Reno Phil and Reno Chamber Orchestra; Chuck Reider, a founding member of the Reno Jazz Orchestra; and Steve Trounday, the media, marketing and business advisor for A.V.A. Ballet Theatre. Dennyse Sewell, CEO of The Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts, became a regular contributor in November 2023.
Readers can enjoy a new Art Views column each Friday by visiting pbsreno.org/artviews.
“Art Views is an extension of our award-earning series ARTEFFECTS here at PBS Reno and Beth Macmillan is a wonderful addition to our talented team of columnists,” said Megan Myers, PBS Reno Vice President of Content. “Through Art Views, we provide a platform to further explore and promote our culturally-rich arts community and elevate more artists whose voices enrich our region in such beautiful and different ways.”
