PBS Reno to Host 2nd Annual Be My Neighbor Day
Free, family-friendly community event to promote early education, health & safety, and more!

RENO, NV (JUN 20, 2025) – It’s going to be a beautiful day in the neighborhood when PBS Reno hosts its second annual Be My Neighbor Day, a free community event on Saturday, July 19, 2025, 10am – 2pm, at Idlewild Park in Reno.

“We hope our community will join us and all the rest of our neighbors for a day of positive interaction, fun, and helping one another, following in the true Fred Rogers tradition,” said Kurt Mische, PBS Reno President and CEO.

Be My Neighbor Day is a family-friendly event promoting early childhood education, health, safety and values highlighted on Daniel Tiger and Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. Children and parents alike will learn the importance of community-focused kindness and sharing by giving back to the community in which we live. PBS Reno will celebrate the rich cultural diversity of our neighbors across northern Nevada and incredible local resources through craft activities and a varied vendor space. Families can have pictures taken with Daniel Tiger and Katerina Kittycat, the stars of Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, and will experience live music and performances while enjoying food and drinks available for purchase from nearby food trucks or a picnic lunch brought from home!

This event brings neighbors together to celebrate the spirit of caring and reminds us that we all have a role in creating a better world—just like Mister Rogers taught us.”

“We are honored to partner with PBS Reno for Be My Neighbor Day again,” said Nicole Lamboley, President & CEO of the Food Bank of Northern Nevada.  “We love how PBS Reno demonstrates the power of community to the youngest of our citizens, showing how we are all better together.”
