“We are proud that so many of our PBS Reno team members are in the Nevada Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame,” said Kurt Mische, PBS Reno President & CEO. “Congratulations to Gigi Slusher and Rebecca Cronon who have joined this impressive group of industry leaders in our state.”

A person is eligible for induction into the Nevada Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame after serving 20 years in the broadcasting industry, with five of those years taking place in Nevada. The Hall of Fame showcases dedication to broadcasting, with each name representing a unique blend of talent, skills, and passion for the industry.

“We're thrilled to welcome Gigi and Rebecca into the Nevada Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame,” said Mitch Fox, Nevada Broadcasters Association President & CEO. “They join an illustrious group of broadcasters who have demonstrated a lifelong passion for our industry, exemplified in a commitment to provide viewers and listeners with content that informs, inspires, and entertains.”

Slusher joined PBS Reno in December 2004 as a receptionist and earned a promotion to Representative in Membership, where she leads the PBS Reno KIDS Club and assists viewers with multiple needs including programming questions, streaming access and more. Slusher is passionate about PBS Reno and the variety of programming viewers enjoy; she also embraces welcoming younger people who join PBS Reno either as interns or professionals fresh out of college and watching them grow.

"I was raised on PBS KIDS programming, as were my daughters, and now my grandchildren,” said Slusher. “So when the opportunity to join PBS Reno came along, I knew I had to take it. The people I've met and collaborated with here are truly the best in the industry. I’m incredibly grateful and deeply honored to receive this award. Thank you to my family and to our amazing community for a joyful 20+ years. PBS Reno truly is the key to Connecting our Community.”

Cronon joined PBS Reno in December 2014 as a Producer and Editor and has served as the station’s Public Information Officer since 2018. She is lead producer of the award-earning production ARTEFFECTS and has produced local membership content since 2019. She started in the broadcasting industry at KOLO 8 News Now in November 2004 as a studio camara operator and later joined KTVN 2 News Nevada as a newscast producer. In 2012, she earned her bachelor’s degree from the Reynolds School of Journalism at the University of Nevada, Reno.

“I am so lucky to have joined this profession at the right time that allowed me to meet and work with so many talented people, many of whom taught me so much about broadcasting,” said Cronon. “I am thrilled to be inducted into the Nevada Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame and grateful to join a community of broadcasters who each have a unique background and journey. I thrive on storytelling, community, and collaboration and I’m grateful to be in a position that allows me to embrace all three and so much more.”

About The Nevada Broadcasters Association

The mission of the Nevada Broadcasters Association is to promote and advocate for the Broadcasters of Nevada while serving the public. The NVBA helps improve and preserve, on a national and statewide basis, an economic, legal and regulatory environment that best enhances the ability of each Station to be financially strong, to remain free from governmental control of programming, and to excel in the public service roles that each Station plays in Nevada, and to continue to offer our Public Education Partnership program and make it as robust as possible. The NVBA seeks to educate Nevada’s local, state and federal officials together with other community leaders about important broadcasting issues, concerns and challenges. Working with the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) and the National Alliance of State Broadcasters Associations (NASBA), the NVBA participates, when necessary, in legal filings before the FCC; and it meets with federal officials and other decision-makers on matters of concern to Nevada’s broadcasters.
