PBS Reno Receives $16,000 Grant from U.S. Bank Foundation
 

RENO, NV (February 6, 2024)PBS Reno announced today that it has received a generous $16,000 grant from the U.S. Bank Foundation. The grant will be used to support PBS Reno STEM Works, a digital-first series featuring businesses based in northern Nevada that offer careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. 

“Creating equitable opportunities for our community requires resources, and the continued support from the U.S. Bank Foundation helps us build and expand the innovative programs we proudly offer here at PBS Reno,” said Emma Glenn, PBS Reno Vice President of Development. “We are very appreciative of their support of our STEM Works program.”

PBS Reno STEM Works launched in 2021 with the goal of introducing a variety of exciting career opportunities to younger viewers and what it takes to work in the industry featured in each episode. PBS Reno STEM Worksdigital shorts provide a fun, fresh look at careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The award-earning digital-first series is hosted by Hana, who takes viewers to northern Nevada-based businesses including Tesla, Google, Desert Research Institute, NV Energy, Nevada Mining Association, and more. The digital shorts feature interviews with professionals in their respective fields as they discuss what makes their work interesting. The goal is to get more kids interested in STEM-related fields in their communities and beyond.
